Who are more smarter mathematicians or physicists?

Sharing is Caring

A physicist is basically nothing but an applied mathematician. However, probably mathematicians are much better at calculations, visualizing abstractions and pattern-recognition. I think both are more or less equally intelligent, although mathematicians will always have an edge over physicists.

Should mathematicians study physics?

A proper appreciation of pure mathematics requires some knowledge of applied mathematics and theoretical physics. Some of my professors have told me that modern Mathematics require some knowledge about Quantum Mechanics and theoretical Physics.

Can a mathematician understand physics?

Yes, if you choose your sub-specialty in mathematics wisely, you will be able to interact with physicists as much as you want and decide the amount you want to be linked between the two fields. Mathematics and physics are not in a binary from one another, but instead there is a spectrum amongst the fields.

What is the smartest kind of scientist?

Physicists won hands down. The tally of 46 respondentsโ€”a dozen of them in physics-related fieldsโ€”reveals that 40% rated physicists as the most intelligent. Mathematicians (11% of the sample) were favored by 15%, while chemists and biologists each captured 6% of the top votes.

Who is smarter engineer or physicist?

Average physicists are smarter than average engineers. But top engineers are smarter than top physicists. What about math? If these top engineers find any value in learning vector geometry, they will learn them faster than your top physicists.

Which is harder math or physics?

Physics is harder. If you major in physics then you’ll end up taking almost as much math as the math majors.

How much physics do mathematicians know?

Those mathematicians will know as much physics as most physicists. Other mathematicians won’t have thought about any physics since their undergraduate days and may not have studied more than one or two physics courses even then. Most mathematicians, of course, will be somewhere in between.

Is physics harder than chemistry?

Physics is considered comparatively harder than chemistry and various other disciplines such as psychology, geology, biology, astronomy, computer science, and biochemistry. It is deemed difficult compared to other fields because the variety of abstract concepts and the level of maths in physics is incomparable.

What math is used most in physics?

You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to study physics, but you do need to know the basics, and college physics classes often use calculus and algebra.

Can a mathematician become a theoretical physicist?

Yes, sure. But it is more difficult then doing the inverse, going from physics to math, in my opinion. The reason is the arduous path to learn quantum mechanics. A physics major takes around two years in courses about QM.

Which is first physics or math?

Physics. The universe’s creation, and the universe itself, is dictated by principles of Physics . The universe led to the creation of mankind, who created the numbers and eventually led to the development of a science called mathematics.

Which is more important maths or physics?

Comparing any two disciplines is silly. Depending on the criteria you use, you can make either one come out on top. So the answers are: math is more important than physics; physics is more important than math; math and physics are equally important.

Are physicist the smartest?

While those physicists had a whopping mean score of 127.7, social scientists scored a meagre average of 121.8. The authors admit there was a significant overlap in range (112โ€“132 for social scientists and 112โ€“136 for physicists), yet they still somehow deem physicists overall the smartest.

Who is the most intelligent mathematician?

Archimedes is often considered as the greatest mathematical genius who ever lived.

Who is the smartest mathematician ever?

Born in Boston in 1898, William James Sidis made the headlines in the early 20th century as a child prodigy with an amazing intellect. His IQ was estimated to be 50 to 100 points higher than Albert Einstein’s. He could read the New York Times before he was 2.

Is Elon Musk a physicist or engineer?

Physics Plus With the skills and knowledge that he has gained from a physics education, his eye for design and innovation, and his business smarts, Elon is unique. In addition to his talents and gifts, he credits his work ethic, opinions, and education for his success.

What type of engineer is Elon Musk?

Elon Musk has no formal engineering degree, but he clearly is industrial engineer by profession. His approach to business and problem solving is typical industrial engineering approach. His actual degrees (BS in both economics and physics) have good overlap with undergraduate curriculum in IE.

Is physics harder than medicine?

They’re both probably almost equally as hard – but in different ways. Physics is extremely theoretical and, well, complicated, but medicine is still extremely theoretical in parts but maybe more straightforward in some parts.

Why do I find physics easier than maths?

If you clearly understand the concepts of maths and physics, both are easier. Especially physics is based on concept application(imagination and visualization included) based subject so it can be much more difficult for the bookworms and those who dont understand the concepts.

Is physics the hardest degree?

The hardest degree subjects are Chemistry, Medicine, Architecture, Physics, Biomedical Science, Law, Neuroscience, Fine Arts, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Economics, Education, Computer Science and Philosophy.

What is the God equation in physics?

What kind of math do theoretical physicists use?

A strong mastery of basic high-school level algebra, trigonometry, analytic and synthetic geometry, and single-variable calculus is required at the very least if one wishes to do serious research in the physical sciences.

Is physics or maths more important for engineering?

Learn a way to be consistent with school-work now and carry it over with you to the university. As for engineering fields mechanical engineering is more toward math, electrical engineering is more physics. In mechanics yoy don’t need too much to understand the physical phenomenon.

Is physics harder than calculus?

Physics is absolutely harder than calculus. Calculus is an intermediate level of mathematics that is usually taught during the first two years of most STEM majors. Physics on the other hand is a very advanced and difficult and highly researched field.

Which is harder biology or physics?

Beginning university students in the sciences usually consider biology to be much easier than physics or chemistry. From their experience in high school, physics has math and formulae that must be understood to be applied correctly, but the study of biology relies mainly on memorization.
